UK clothing brands that donate to mental health: how to check the claim
'A portion of profits' can mean almost nothing. Four questions that separate real giving from marketing — and exactly what HHSS donates per item.
Plenty of brands say they support mental health. Far fewer will tell you the figure. Here is how to tell the difference in under a minute.
Four questions worth asking
Any honest brand can answer all four on its website:
- Is the amount per item, or a share of undefined 'profits'?
- Is it inside the price, or an optional round-up at checkout?
- Who receives it, and is that published?
- Is a running total shared, rather than a one-off launch donation?
What HHSS gives
£5 from every £55 heavyweight hoodie. £3 from every tee. £2 from every £22 cap. £1 from every £5 car window sticker. It is priced in, so nothing is optional and nothing is added at the till. Free gift stickers carry no donation because nothing was paid for them.
Where it goes
Donations go to Man Down UK, and running totals are published so the claim can be checked rather than taken on trust.
