Why £5 from every hoodie goes to mental health

The donation isn't marketing. Here's how the £5 per hoodie, £3 per tee, £2 per cap and £1 per sticker is worked out, and why it's built into the price rather than bolted on at checkout.

HHSS started from a simple idea: clothing that carries weight should carry meaning too. Every garment we sell has a fixed donation baked into the price before it ever reaches you.

The numbers

The donation is fixed per item, not a percentage that shrinks in a sale.

  • £5 from every heavyweight hoodie
  • £3 from every 250gsm tee
  • £2 from every cap
  • £1 from every car window sticker

Why it's in the price

Optional round-ups at checkout get skipped. Percentages get quietly reduced. A fixed amount, set before you see the price, means the donation happens on every single order — including the ones nobody's watching.

It also means we can't inflate the claim. Sell one hoodie, send £5. Sell a hundred, send £500. The maths is visible.

What it doesn't cover

Refunds are the one exception worth being straight about. If you return a garment we refund you in full, but the Man Down UK donation from that order still goes out. We don't claw money back from a mental health service because a hoodie didn't fit.
